A San Francisco treat for Volcano Climbers

Pete and I finally got to go on a much anticipated vacation a couple of weeks ago.  I think we needed it.  We took a two day cruise down to San Francisco.  This is Pete and I when we first boarded:

Here we are after two days aboard the ship.

We were finally learning how to relax.  I even took an afternoon nap and slept right through Bingo!  I never nap normally.  The weather was fantastic and we really enjoyed ourselves.

Finally, we arrived in San Francisco one morning escorted by the Coast Guard and seagulls.

What a wonderfully unique city but the inhabitants must be part mountain goat.  The hills are incredibly steep and I thought that it was totally appropriate that I travel to the city where I would get the best possible "Volcano Climbing" training while sight-seeing and drinking beer.  I saw elderly men book it up Telegraph Hill.  Pete and I also walked up Telegraph Hill to the Coit tower even though Pete had sustained a slight injury during a Disco incident the last night on the boat.  He was a trooper though and we finally made it to the top just as the elderly man who had passed us on the way up was now a third of the way down.  Cardio levels must be extremely good for the population of San Francisco.

This one hasn't anything to do with steep hills, it's just silly.

I hope you enjoyed the photos and would now like to help me conquer diabetes by giving generously to the Canadian Diabetes team.  Asta la veesta, baby.  (No, we didn't see Arnie but his presence was felt).

Anyway, I felt pretty good that with all the hills we climbed I didn't slide on the work outs I had done to that point.  You know how vacations can go.  Eating, drinking, lounging.  Oh don't get me wrong, we did a lot of that too but we walked a lot every day and we felt the effects.  Our feet were sore but we had so much fun.
